Novelist Dean Koontz told San Diego Comic-Con attendees on Saturday that he now as a movie script adapted from his book "Odd Thomas" in hand and he's very pleased with the results. Koontz also teased that an unnamed actor has signed on to play the title character, but he clammed up before spilling his identity, much to the chagrin of the panel audience.

Koontz added that after reading the script, which was written by an unnamed screenwriter, he 'fell over' because it was 'so perfect.'

"Odd Thomas" tells the story of the title character – a fry cook whose life flies very low on the societal radar. However, Odd has a gift… the ability to communicate with the dead. The book was published in 2003 and Koontz has since followed it up with three other Odd-centric books. He told Con-goers that the Odd Thomas tales will wrap as a set of seven books.

"I know how it ends," said Koontz. "But I don't know how he gets there yet."

Koontz did not reveal any time table for production of the Odd Thomas movie.

This is awesome they are going to make an Odd Thomas movie. I think they should base it soley on the 2nd book "Forever Odd". After reading Forever Odd, I just felt it would be perfect for the Big Screen!!

I know it's going to sound weird, but when i pictured the characters while reading, I always thought Milo Vermiglia from heroes as Odd, Zooey as Stormy(surprised i'm not the only one), and yes...Dom Delouise as Ozzie. I think he could pull it off, if he's still alive.
I have high hopes, having just gotten into Koontz i haven't seen any of the movies they've made from his books.

I can't wait for the movie! I just wish there would be a release date soon. I hope they don't screw it up like "Watcher" awesome book horrible screenplay. I don't think Shia would be right for Odd. Too bad Rob Lowe is too old for it he is what I picture. Maybe the guy that did the webisodes. He had the look.

how about josh hartnett,he's young and handsome, plus he still has that boyish innocence that odd portrays.

I love the Odd Thomas books and I think for me the perfect actor to portray him in film is Colin Morgan who is currently playing the young Merlin on an NBC miniseries. Read the message thread called "So adorable....but why?" on his IMDB page and you will see some of what I and others see in him. Especially the comment from Sabbaroo. It's just Odd to a T.

I would love to see NEW people for the parts. Cast from scratch and throw in a few new for leads.

Maybe even cast from some of those itty-bitty towns. ^_~ *Secretly hoping to play ANY character... *

Though, with Odd's reference in one of the books, I would love to see Matt Damon.

Zooey is a GREAT choice. What about Kyle Gallner for Odd though? (haunting in connecticut)
