SDCC: Dean Koontz Says Odd Thomas Movie in the Works

Novelist Dean Koontz told San Diego Comic-Con attendees on Saturday that he now as a movie script adapted from his book "Odd Thomas" in hand and he's very pleased with the results. Koontz also teased that an unnamed actor has signed on to play the title character, but he clammed up before spilling his identity, much to the chagrin of the panel audience.

Koontz added that after reading the script, which was written by an unnamed screenwriter, he 'fell over' because it was 'so perfect.'

"Odd Thomas" tells the story of the title character – a fry cook whose life flies very low on the societal radar. However, Odd has a gift… the ability to communicate with the dead. The book was published in 2003 and Koontz has since followed it up with three other Odd-centric books. He told Con-goers that the Odd Thomas tales will wrap as a set of seven books.

"I know how it ends," said Koontz. "But I don't know how he gets there yet."

Koontz did not reveal any time table for production of the Odd Thomas movie.

Okay. I have researched both Jordana Brewster and this Justin Chatwin and they would fit Odd and Stormy very well. I can see the two of them being a good "on screen" couple with good chemistry. Doing Stormy and Odd proud. :) I just wish someone would hurry up and leak the information. The suspense is killing me. All too fitting though.. Koontz is the master of suspense.

i don't have any ideas really but justin chatwin is too pretty and i think jordana doesnt have the right character, but i've only ever seen her in the fast and furious movie

zooey should be saved to play Susan from false memory if that should happen, becaue I think she is described as having black hair with blue eyes

But I have been eagerly awaiting any news of this movie and I've found nothing! D:

I don't think zooey fits stormy. She sounds more like an angelina Jolie except less excentric.

I think Jordana Brewster is a very underrated actress. Her roles in (in my opinion) Annopolis, DEBS, and even the Faculty were very well portrayed. I think she would do very well as Stormy, I just can't picture anyone else. For me it would be a tough one between the two Justins(Long and Chatwin) Although I think Chatwin may be the better choice, if he hasn't sealed his fate with the Dragonball Z movie.

Never mind if it works or not, I am happy there is always Koontz to read. Though I think that his stories told in first singular person suffer because there is no characterization of the bad guys. The thoughts of the bad guys are always the juice is his prose.

I have read all three O.T. book twice and I do not generally that to often. I was intr. to D.K. back some time ago. The first novel was Lighting. I really do like O.T. alot. I just do not think that our imaginations should be messed with by someone else idea of what was writen. I do hope that D.K. can find a director that see his vision. Good luck on that.
