Ridley Scott's Nottingham Delayed

July 26, 2008

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed a report that first appeared at Defamer - Ridley Scott's Nottingham has been delayed. The film will star Russell Crowe as Sheriff of Nottingham and Sienna Miller as Maid Marian.

According to the reports, the project had been heading for a mid-August start date in London, but has now been put on hold. The trade says, however, that it has not been determined if this means a postponement or a cancellation.

Nottingham, which Universal and Imagine are producing, has been one of the handful of high-profile productions determined to push ahead despite the labor uncertainty surrounding the current stand-off between producers and SAG.

It is not yet known what factors led to the current decision to put the brakes on the production.

This sucks, NOTTINGHAM was the first Ridley Scott film I've actually been looking forward to in a long time.

I'm not a fan of Scott's "real life" crime and/or war stories. AMERICAN GANGSTER, BODY OF LIES, BLACK HAWK DOWN... they just don't do it for me. I prefer the ALIEN, BLADE RUNNER and GLADIATOR Ridley Scott.

I repeat, this sucks.

BitHE, grow up.

Well, if it gets delayed/"postponed" indefinitely, I hope this will accelerate his plans for his next sci-fi movie which I'm in more eager anticipation of.

I still wonder how Tripoli would've turned out if it hadn't got canceled. Oh well. Kingdom of Heaven turned out to be one of Ridley's best.

Good, do 'The Blood Meridian' instead. Or 'The Low Dweller.'

A very disappointing news indeed! I'm so looking forward to this one. Russell Crowe would be awesome in a classic, as he usually did with other films such as Gladiator and Master and Commander. Hope it will turn around nicely.

How did Sluttyienna get picked to play Maid Marion? This is to much of a stretch for her very limited (limiited to anything of a sexual nature) acting abilities! How could she possibly play a maidenly, demure and chaste part. She coesn't know what those words mean!
Write to: Ronald Meyer,President & COO - Universal Studios - 100 Universal City Plaza - Universal City - Los Angeles, CA 90168 and to:
Imagine Entertainment - 9465 Wilshire Blvd. -
Beverly Hills, CA 90212. Tell them you won't pay to see this common, crude woman in anything! All it takes are a few words and the price of a stamp and it works.!!
