SDCC: Torchwood Star Up for Captain America?

John Barrowman, the star of "Torchwood," was just asked moments ago at the San Diego Comic-Con panel if there was any possibility that he would be playing Captain America in the upcoming feature film.

He smiled and gave the stock answer that he'd love to play the character and that Captain America has always been his favorite comic book superhero. Clearly, though, the notion did not take him by surprise and he ended up admitting there had been discussions with his agents and meetings on that very issue.

What do you think? Though maybe not the star-power that the studio might be looking for, Barrowman certainly fits the bill. We'll bring you more news as it develops.

The First Avenger: Captain America is currently scheduled for a May 6, 2011 release.

Plus, Heath Ledger and Jack Gyllenhal played homosexuals in Brokeback Mountain and they were both straight in real life. Things like this happen all the time in Hollywood, tt's called acting for a reason.

If you're *****ing about his sexuality, shut the hell up. Brando, one of the greatest actors that ever lived, was bisexual. It has NOTHING to do with your acting talent.

John Barrowman being given an excuse to run around in skintight spandex... I don't think he'd actually want paying ;)

I love John Barrowman, but I don't think that he's right for the part. In the unlikely event he was cast for the role, I'd probably buckle and see it.

However, I find it necessary to add that seeing negative reactions to his sexuality in these comments is very upsetting. The anti-homosexual remarks here are the main reason for the disappointment and shame I feel in my fellow superhero comic book fans.

Grow up, please. If you can't manage that, at least don't post on the internet. You're embarrassing the rest of us, and turning many people away from a great genre of entertainment.
