George Lucas to Turn Star Wars Saga into 3D

ComingSoon.net caught up with DreamWorks Animations CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg on Tuesday and learned that George Lucas is looking to repurpose the six "Star Wars" episodes into 3D format.

Katzenberg told us that Lucas is very excited about it and that he's got the technical resources to pull it off. "He isn't going to put a product out, I think, that isn't anything other than first rate," Katzenberg said.

James Bond - wrong. Casino Royale was blown away by the prequels at the Box Office. So critically better received? Yes. Better received by the public? No.

I smell milk - milking it dry

however the 3d on journey to the centre of the earth was really cool. So combine that with the always good watching the films in Theatres would be cool

Firstly, this is old news. 3D Star Wars has been mentioned numerous times. I, for one, hope that it succeeds, because if any movie should be turned into a 3D movie, it's Star Wars.

For everyone complaining about Star Wars being a "cash cow", here's an idea: don't feed the cash cow. Don't watch the animated film, the 3D movies, the TV series, DVDs or video games. Nobody is forcing you.
And lets face it, if you had a billion dollar franchise, would you honestly say you wouldn't "milk it for all it's worth"?

What's next...Indy in 3-D, Indy puppets, Indy Pixar animation. What about "American Graffiti" in 3-D his last film before Star Wars. I love SW George but are ever gonna run out of milk.

Lets not forget folks, Lucas has still to release the prequals in boxset form $$$$ the stone aint dry yet??
All i want is for him to give the go ahead to do the SEQUALS, BUT not have Lucas direct them? why?? look at the prequals, and ask what went wrong? could it have been the strengh of the original 3 was in the fact that 3 different directors did them? how many fans waited for umpteen years for the Anankin/emporer scene and all we got was "come work for me, its your destiny" "ok" and lets not forget the bloody awefull dialogue that was used for the "romance" scenes between Padme and Anankin!! and whats the deal with Anankin being THAT young and havin the hots for Padme? and..... etc etc
