ComingSoon.net caught up with DreamWorks Animations CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg on Tuesday and learned that George Lucas is looking to repurpose the six "Star Wars" episodes into 3D format.

Katzenberg told us that Lucas is very excited about it and that he's got the technical resources to pull it off. "He isn't going to put a product out, I think, that isn't anything other than first rate," Katzenberg said.

Stay tuned for possibly more on this soon.

Eh, I already have DVDs of all six movies. I don't need this. This can go on the shelf next to all the unsold SW figures after ROTS.

Instead of doing this, he should release the untouched original Star Wars trilogy on DVD but with the picture and sound quality of the current 'special edition' DVDs...just without his horrific changes - that would at least please the fans, rather than rehashing everything into 3D.

Good or bad, is it necessary? George Lucas, you suck!

If you want to ruin a movie with a remake then make "Willow 3D", for which no one would give a **** i'm sure (unless i've just disturbed a hornets nest of willow fans...lol)

I don't understand why everyone keeps saying he's money hungry because he's putting out new Star Wars product. People keep paying money for the DVDs, seeing the movies in the theater, buying merchandise. I guess if George Lucas is all about milking his saga then Stan Lee must be the Hitler of comic book merchandising. Dozens of movies, new animated series every few years, merchandise that puts even Star Wars to shame. Like seriously, who cares people. How many releases has Tim Burton milked for Nightmare Before Christmas? Peter Jackson for LOTR? I'm excited to see all 6 movies in 3D

If he put this much effort into giving us the last 3 episodes, as he is into these 3D-CRAP versions, he could have them done in no time at all...

Hey guess what...we can expect the SUPER DELUXE LIMITED TIME ONLY THIS IS YOUR FINAL CHANCE YOU WILL NOT SEE THESE ON THE SHELVES AGAIN "BOX SET"
