George Lucas to Turn Star Wars Saga into 3D

ComingSoon.net caught up with DreamWorks Animations CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg on Tuesday and learned that George Lucas is looking to repurpose the six "Star Wars" episodes into 3D format.

Katzenberg told us that Lucas is very excited about it and that he's got the technical resources to pull it off. "He isn't going to put a product out, I think, that isn't anything other than first rate," Katzenberg said.

Sorry if its been said before but I don't feel like reading 100+ postings...

I would so much rather he work on making SW 7-9 than 1-6 in 3D!

I always thought Star Wars should've been in 3D. I can't wait to see how it looks. You guys are acting as if he's making more movies. Star Wars (all 6) would look amazing in 3D!

Wait, so if you reduce the double negative in that quote from Katzenberg, Lucas IS going to put out something that IS anything other than first rate. Sounds about right to me.

After wasting money on EP 1-3, then witnessing the crap that was Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, I have been duped for the last time.

Never again will I spend money on a film with Lucas' name attached. The man stopped making good movies long ago, and has spent his time changing (in a negative way) one of the greatest trilogies of all time.

If he would stop "re-envisioning" the original trilogy, and give it these technological updates I would be tempted to support him still.

How the hell is he ruining the movies? He's not making them 3D as in CG. He's just making them 3D as in Imax 3D. With the glasses and stuff.
