Tarantino Prepping Bastards for an October Start

July 9, 2008

Quentin Tarantino is once again teaming with The Weinstein Company as he readies Inglorious Bastards for an October shoot, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The writer/director is reteaming with the Weinsteins for his long-gestating World War II action tale about a Dirty Dozen-like group of soldiers behind enemy lines. The Weinstein Company will co-finance the film, distribute it domestically and oversee production and worldwide marketing.

Since the production will film in Europe and is looking toward an accelerated production schedule so that it can be finished in time to submit to May's Cannes Film Festival, the Weinsteins are looking to join forces with a major studio to come aboard to co-finance in exchange for foreign rights.

In related news, Deadline Hollywood Daily has learned that Tarantino is talking to Brad Pitt about playing a role in the film.

What I want to know is, is this going to be the rumored 2 films again or has Tarantino managed to break out the felt marker and edit this puppy down into one tighter script.

I'm hoping for the latter.

So it's finally coming together...and by freakin' May? I hope the Weinsteins give it a summer release date; what's better to watch in the summer than an unadulterated WWII epic?

Remake or not (I dunno, I'll have to check that myself), Tarantino is friggin' AWESOME.

its not really a remake. its just basically the same premise. and like all of tarantino's films it will be heavily influenced by other films particulary in the same genre. more like "inspired by" rather than a remake.

YES! Although I did not like Death Proof, Tarantino has had an otherwise flawless resume and I'm STOKED about this!

Pitt is a pretty solid choice. Pretty curious as to how that'd turn out. I wonder if our boy Tarantino will deliver on his wishlist of getting Sly, Bruce and Arnie on the same project as well? And wasn't Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy rumored for this from a Tarantino interview LONG ago? Weird picks if you ask me, but I'm not gonna argue with QT! And it's NOT a remake... he's stealing the title from another film. He's stated this in multiple interviews.
