More on the Possible 300 Follow-Up

Variety says that Legendary Pictures has confirmed last week's reports that it is developing a 300 follow-up for Warner Bros. that Frank Miller is writing and Zack Snyder is intended to direct.

Miller is writing the graphic novel the project will be based upon, although at this point it's not clear whether it will be a prequel or spin-off.

Snyder won't officially commit until after he sees Miller's take, but he's definitely interested, says the trade.

Legendary, which also co-financed and produced Snyder's Watchmen for Warners, considers the project a major priority.

"The vision of Frank Miller's universe that Zack Snyder brought to the screen in '300' is unlike anything ever seen before," said Legendary's Thomas Tull. "We want to be certain that the story originates with Frank and be as compelling as the first."

At first I thought this idea was ridiculous.

But now that I think about it it would be interesting to see a prequel of Leonidas' up bringing and Xerxes' own as well (I read that he had to kill a lion as his initiation into kingship/manhood)

and a sequel would probably be the battle of platea or the downfall of spartan society.

I just hope they make it awesome. I want more mutants and monsters and cool looking stuff with awesome colors please.

If Gerry Butler in a tiny costume is involved, count me in. I will pencil that into my schedule and be there ready to go.

nice idea but they shouldnt make a prequel or spin-off because 300 was based on a single story and 300 wrapped it all up. instead using frank miller and zack snyder they could do another film in the same style as 300 based around heracles or something like that. that would be pretty cool

soot, the downfall of the Spartans would be a great idea, because the ending is normally in favor of the main characters in almost all films, one way or another, including in 300 (saved his country didn't he?)
Anyway the ending would be so unbelievably good... like 300's in a way. However I think they'd have trouble creating characters as likeable as those in 300... I really hope they make this sequel, or they could make an interquel that occurs in that year between 300 and the battle of platea, and make Dilios the main character, but what story can be told in that year? That they assembled an army? They'd have to go out of their way to get a good story from it.

I hope they keep the historical aspect, like don't make up a story, base it on something that did happen.

This prequel/spin-off (hope it's a prequel) is gonna be hard to pull off, because they have to keep to the same style of 300, and if they do that, everyone's gonna say it's the exact same thing.

Anyways I hope they make this a prequel, then make a sequel to 300, that way 300 would be the mid-story. That would be really cool.

What would they name them though? It would be kind of weird to just name it after the number of warriors in the battles...

This film WILL be a sequel... They're doing research on the army of "10,000" that followed Leonidas' 300. The character Dilios (played by David Wenham) was the leader with the eye patch at the end of 300 getting ready to lead his army of 10,000. The one thing slowing down production however is that they won't move ahead until Frank Miller gets his graphic novel of the material finished. What would be interesting is if Miller takes a left turn with the material and gives it a whole new look. I wonder if everyone would go for that?
