Matthew Fox is Billy Smoke

Matthew Fox (Speed Racer, "Lost") is in negotiations to star in Warner Bros.' Billy Smoke, based on the Oni Press comic about a hit man seeking redemption, says Variety.

The project is produced by Basil Iwanyk at Thunder Road and Eric Gitter at Closed on Mondays Entertainment. Oni's Peter Sherwin will executive produce.

The story centers on an elite hit man who's nearly killed during a botched job and realizes that his only way to find redemption is to rid the world of all assassins.

The comic book series, written by B. Clay Moore and illustrated by Eric Kim, will be published by Oni Press next year.

It's really cool seeing Mathew Fox doing more movies. This sounds like it could be pretty cool although maybe not entirely disimilar to the current action flick Wanted. Still sounds promising and Fox is awesome. I'm there.

"The comic book series...will be published by Oni Press next year." That means they're trying to make a movie before the comic has even come out. Does that strike anyone else as ass-backwards? They should wait to see if the comic is good before they try to make a movie out of it. I know this isn't the first time this has happened, but examples like this are why Hollywood is slowly but surely killing comic book films. Why can't they wait and make good films based on established hits instead of jumping on the band wagon and making the cheapest film possible.

And nees, you need to watch some real actors, Matthew Fox sucks like a Hoover.

puke, when's the last time you picked up a comic book? the comics industry has been in a downfall since the 80s. HOW and WHY would the comic industry give a hint of a potential box office winner? it's like looking at the sky to decide what day of the week it is.
