Mark Millar, whose Wanted was adapted into the feature film opening this Friday, said on his message boards that a sequel is already in the planning stages:

Wanted 2 already being planned and they've asked me how I can develop some of the other stuff from the book into the sequel. We'll see what box office is like at the weekend, but everyone knows this is going to make a LOT of dough.

Wanted, starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Terence Stamp, Thomas Kretschmann, Common and Angelina Jolie, was directed by Timur Bekmambetov.

"a LOT of dough"

isn't Wall*E out this weekend too? it won't top $30 mil, where Wall*E will clean up with $60-70 mil. i nearly guarantee it.

simply for him saying that, i now want it to flop.

and like ANY film has a chance against a Pixar film!

With USA you're correct that they're released on the same weekend which is unfortunate. Luckily for us we have a gap between the films which will give them both a chance. I'm just worried about the Kung Fu Panda and Hancock collisions, but it's going to be a fun week at the cinemas.

UK: Wanted (25th June)
UK: Wall-E (18th July)

Wall-E will most likely be number one, but Wanted has a lot of promotion behind it and looks like a great movie. After the parents take their kids to see Wall-E they are going to see Wanted. My boxoffice guess is

Wall-E - $42 Mil
Wanted - $39 Mil

Yeah I agree strongly with holodigm...a rated R dark novel that the mainstream audience knows nothing about vs a rated PG CG animated family movie from a studio that has a strong reputation of making excellent movies over and over again? yeah...I'll put my money on Wall.e to come out on top BIG!!!!!

Both look good, so I'm seeing them both on Friday... double-feature! My friends and I are seeing Wall-E with our girlfriens/wives and then the guys are seeing Wanted afterwards.

hmmm, a kiddy robot CGI film, or an adaptation of a graphic novel that looks nothing like the graphic novel for the top spot at the B.O.?

Also, Timur Bekmambetov (the director of "Wanted"), I rented "night watch" (his first film, i think), it sucked, bloody awful movie, "Wanted will probably fail, but who knows, americans eat up garbage at the theater like they do popcorn.
