UPDATE: Bale or Riley To Be Robin Hood in Nottingham?

June 21, 2008

Mail Online is reporting a rumor that Christian Bale, Vanessa Redgrave, William Hurt and Saoirse Ronan are all in talks to join Russell Crowe and Sienna Miller in director Ridley Scott's Nottingham:

Christian Bale, soon to be seen as the caped crusader in The Dark Knight, is in talks about donning the jolly Lincoln Green outfit of Robin Hood, where he will be part of a menage a trois between Russell Crowe's Sheriff of Nottingham and Sienna Miller's Maid Marian.

Nothing is signed for Bale, but director Ridley Scott is exceedingly keen to cast him.

Costume fittings begin next week, so he'll be either in or out by then. Vanessa Redgrave and William Hurt are also in discussions about being in the film, which is called Nottingham.

Saoirse Ronan (who appeared with Vanessa in Joe Wright's award-winning film Atonement) will also be in the picture.

Crowe and Bale starred together in last year's 3:10 to Yuma. We'll have to wait and see if they will sign onto the project, which Universal is looking to release on November 6, 2009.

UPDATE: Ain't It Cool News is denying the rumors although they have no specific source, and Latino Review now reports from their own sources that Russell Crowe would like Sam Riley, who played Joy Division singer Ian Curtis in Control, to play the part of Robin Hood.

Stay tuned as this story develops and the film gets closer to production.

Bale vs. Crowe Round 2, huh?
Sounds good to me.

Really like to more on Ridley's new sci-fi though.

Bale's had a lot of iconic roles signed up (Batman and John Connor). Robin Hood too much?

Anyway, he's cool.

Sweet! That's two high profile films with Bale I'm looking forward to next year, the other one being "Public Enemies" with Depp!

KEVIN COSTNER IS A HACK
June 21, 2008
Christian Bale bale is a real actor who is not a insecure loser like Kevin Costner. Prince of Thieves was a cool movie but, Costner did not do an English accent. Which is not the first time Costner has taken a dump on a genre. Remember, when he refused to have a barber long mustache in Wyatt Earp because he thought it was not cool. But, Kurt "the real man" Russell did have the realistic mustache for the Wyatt Earp character.

Well, Ridley always casts the right people. I hope that this new film is commercial. Scott has made all boring films since Gladiator. They were ok films like American Gangster but, nothing I would see again.

Bale would be a good addition. I was a little boy when Prince of Thieves came out but, I remember how stylized and hip it was for the time. I hope that Scott adds some stylization and coolness to it. He kind of toned it down for american gangster.

Drop Sienna out and cast Emily Watson as Maid Marion and we can talk about me ever stepping into a cinema to watch this movie. In fact, why not scrap the whole idea of a My Fair Lady remake, a fiasco in the waiting to happen, and cast Keira as Marion? Michelle Williams, Kelly Macdonald...

Just, please, anyone but Sienna.

Bale seems too keen to accept any roles lately, being Robin Hood could work but John Conner seems to me like it's going too far. McG will kill all that was good about the Terminator films, keep him away from Superman, which Bale is probably already pondering!!!!!!!
