Update: Iron Man Gets to $300 Million First

June 19, 2008

UPDATE: Iron Man actually crossed the $300 million mark on Wednesday, its 48th day in theaters.

Marvel Studios' Iron Man (distributed by Paramount Pictures) will become the first 2008 film to cross the $300 million mark domestically on Thursday.

Through Tuesday, the comic book adaptation had earned an estimated $299.3 million in the U.S. and Canada.

Among summer 2008's other big openers, Paramount's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is another clear $300 million candidate, with $279.5 million through Tuesday. "Skull" has also grossed $359.5 million internationally for a worldwide total of $638.9 million.

Iron Man has grossed $250 million internationally for a worldwide total of more than $550 million.

i can, indy is more internationally known than iron man, but in terms of quality, iron man is better than indy 4. George Lucas, i hate you for ruining indy. i wanna see frank darabonts script made into a movie!

Iron Man was awesome, But Indy was F****** AWESOME! Here's hoping that Marvel brings back Jon Favreau, if not, then they are idiots. And here's hoping that if there is another Indy (which there better be), George Lucas will shut the hell up, and just watch Spielberg and Ford do the big boy work!

Aren't Iron Man and Indy both Paramount films? Paramount rules this summer with Kung Fu Panda too? Tropic Thunder will be awesome but not sure about the box office. And I've checked their next summer's releases. Transformers 2, GI Joe, Star Trek carrying probably 150+ million budget each.

It's a shame that not ALL the summer movies can be successful. Even though I have no interest in seeing Speed Racer, it could have done better.

Iron Man is awesome......Indy 4 is awesome too, why do people not like Indy 4???!! It is an excellent movie. Is it because of the alien concept???????? Are you kidding me??? What is the difference between the other three movies and the alien concept????? Nothing! Indy 4 is so awesome. Have seen both Iron Man and Indy 4 each 5 times. Will see both of them two more times each

I enjoyed 'Iron Man' a lot and 'Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull' a lot as well. Both highlight movies of the year. I also add 'The Incredible Hulk' as another excellent movie of the year. I hope all three get sequels.
