Ashmore Fights Killer Parasite in The Thaw

June 13, 2008

Aaron Ashmore ("Smallville," "Veronica Mars") will star in the indie feature The Thaw, opposite Martha MacIsaac and Val Kilmer, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Anagram Pictures is producing the thriller about an Arctic research team attacked by a killer parasite released by melting polar ice caps.

Ashmore will play a college student in the besieged crew.

The Thaw is written by Michael Lewis and Mark A. Lewis. The latter also will direct. Shooting begins in Vancouver on Monday.

That annoying kid from xmen you speak of is not in this, you should check the name of the actor before ripping the guy.

It's actually his twin brother, but it's easy to make that mistake. As for the obvious rip-off of John Carpenters The Thing, it just goes to show you how unoriginal thinking and a lack of imagination is ruining modern day horror and sci-fi films in Hollywood. This one should head straight to DVD.

This would be a good story if global warming was real.

It's pretty blatant...with no apologies for John Carpenter. Hell even the title displays a lack of respect for originality..."The Thing"...morphs into "The Thaw." Weak sauce, indeed.

Just what we need, a blatant copy of "The Thing", only with pretty young people. Ugh.
