ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! talked to "Spider-Man" franchise director Sam Raimi this week and got his thoughts on making more sequels.

"James Vanderbilt is writing the script and I'm excited to read it. I think it's going to be done in a few months," Raimi told us, adding, "I'm hoping it's as great as our discussions were about it and I'm hoping it feels right for me because I love Spider-Man. I'm hoping I'm well rested enough to embrace it and I'm hoping Sony wants me to do it. If all of those things come together, I would love to do it. There are a lot of unknowns about the future."

And how does he feel about re-casting key players if needed? "I'd hate to re-cast anybody in the future, I can't imagine that."

In related news, ShockTillYouDrop.com also talked to Raimi about the proposed Evil Dead remake and rumored 30 Days of Night sequel. You can read more on those here!

It seems to me that most people hated Spidey 3 for the story. If they get a great story this time around, I don't see how another outing with Maguire and Dunst wouldn't be a success.

I myself, didn't have a problem with the movie. I'd like to see another outing with Raimi, et al.

I didn't have a problem with the directing either. It was the script. It was too large of a story that was too condensed. I could have seen it bee really good over a period of two films. Introduce Sandman and New Goblin, and Eddie Brock. Get rid of Sandman and bring in Venom for the second movie.

A new spiderman seems promising.

Spidey 3 had possibly the worst script for a superhero movie ever written...seriously emo spiderman in the jazz club ruined that movie

I agree, it was the overly rushed over burdened story of 3 that made it suffer, but from everything I have read 4 and 5 would form one story, which lends me to think it would be more fleshed out and that gives me a LOT of hope.

Spider-man 3 was definitely by far the worst of the Spider-man series and I honestly don't have a problem with Sam directing, but guess who wrote 3, Sam Raimi and his brother. Sam needs to stick to what he's good at, directing. I'm hoping this new writer is going to write better. I personally think they should have brought back Spider-Man 2 writers Alfred Gough and Miles Miller. They did a superb job.

If they're going to release a new Spider-Man movie within the next four years, it would spell disaster to exclude Maguire or Dunst. A Batman Begins-esque rebirth of the franchise shouldn't happen unless there's a very, very long gap.

Honestly I think they should get another directer for Spiderman 4, 3 was a disaster, that movie sucked hard.

Take some time, get the script right, and bring back Raimi and the cast for a home run that lives up to the potential of the first two. If SM3 was the end with the original team, they didn't go out on a high note, and I think they know it. Give them one more chance to end things with a more satisfying film (or two) before rebooting.
