Steve Buscemi, Ray Liotta, Jean Smart and M. Emmet Walsh have joined Michael Cera in Youth in Revolt, the Miguel Arteta-directed comedy for Dimension Films, says Variety.

The film is based on the C.D. Payne novel, which was adapted by Gustin Nash, Arteta and Cera. David Permut is producing, and Steve Longi is co-producing with Miranda Freiberg.

Cera plays teenager Nick Twisp, who meets the girl of his dreams on a family vacation and destroys the trip trying to be with her. Buscemi will play his father.

Liotta needs some good movies under his belt
His filmography has become pretty dry, so to speak

Frankly, when I read the Twisp series about a decade ago, I was completely confused as to just how the hell would they ever be able to make a movie based on this book... It had a thirteen year old losing his virginity, a fourteen year old getting pregnant, and a kid with deformed genatalia. Nowadays, with movies like Juno and Superbad, it all makes sense...

I can definitely see Buscemi playing Cera's father. A nice bit of casting, and they're both perfect for this kind of "offbeat comedy".

This great news Donny playing dad to george michael. I will see this movie a million times just because of this cast minus Ray Liotta good in good fellas bad in wild hogs.

One of my favorite books of all time. Not sure how they are going to adapt it into an R-rated movie, but I can't wait to see it! :)
