Paramount Pictures has started airing these third and fourth TV spots for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, opening in theaters on May 22. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the action-adventure stars Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone, Karen Allen, John Hurt and Jim Broadbent. In the sequel, famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones is called back into action when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind a mysterious artifact known as the Crystal Skull.

You can watch the third spot here and fourth spot here!

I know they want to avoid backlash, but this advertising is so subtle and underwhelming that I wouldn't be surprised if the four-day opening weekend doesn't top $80 million.

Subtle Advertising?
Have you not been grocery shopping lately?
Indiana Jones is EVERYWHERE!
Don't assume the small amount of trailers/commercials means his exposure is any less present.

The Phantom Menace opened huge on the strength of over a decade of pent-up anticipation, a couple trailers, advertising tie-ins, a print campaign and media coverage.
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has all of that plus a TV ad campaign and a better cast for the talk show circuit. It's going to be huge.

^^ OH NO! The Lunatic F*ucker is on ComingSoon! Probably though it was a different kind-of website, going by the name...

BTW, Indy cookies and cupcakes do not an advertising campaign make. This may be totally paranoid, but I would be surprised if Lucas intentionally sabotaged the advertising for the film so it doesn't make as much money as the SW prequels, (he is VERY competitive with Spielberg)...

Quoting Gorj:
"this advertising is so subtle and underwhelming that I wouldn't be surprised if the four-day opening weekend doesn't top $80 million."
End Quote.

Dude, you're gonna be proven SO wrong! No matter what you may find the tv-spots/trailers to be, this is Indiana_Jones!... This movie will sell like ****ing crazy! It'll definitly be one of the top box-office smash-hits this year. And the opening will be HUGE as well, there's no doubt about that.

Woops, that "Lunatic F*ucker" thing was aimed as George W., not Ian. Sorry. ;)

BTW, I've yet to see Iron Man, but I heard from three friends who saw it in separate screenings that there was NO reaction to the Indy trailer. Just indifference.
