First Look: Jim Carrey on the Phillip Morris Set

April 29, 2008

Jim Carrey has been spotted filming his new comedy, I Love You Phillip Morris, and TheBadandUgly.com has posted the first pics from the Florida set. Based on a book by Houston Chronicle crime reporter Steve McVicker, the fact-based film casts Carrey as Steven Russell, a married father whose exploits landed him in the Texas criminal justice system. He fell madly in love with his cellmate, who eventually was set free, which led Russell to escape from Texas prisons four times. Ewan McGregor and Leslie Mann co-star.

I really think that Hollywood is running out of Ideas, and buying every 5 and dinner graphic novel and thrust it into rights for a movie. All the books we have never heard of like this pile of ****.

This sounds funny as hell to me. I think i'm going to stop reading these boards. Unless it's for a sure thing like TDK, all anybody does is bash an idea.

I can't wait to be in a press conference and rip on people who post on these boards.

Agreed. This movie sounds effin hilarious. The ones that rip on stuff like this act like hollywood JUST STARTED making movies from books. The two most critically acclaimed movies of last year?...based on books. The two top grossing films of last year?...based on comic book...based on toys. Plus for every bad movie based on a book, you get a Juno. Stop complaining.

Jim Carrey's a riot. Don't be so spasmodically uncofortable with his character's unbridled, flamboyant, dainty, ultra-effeminate gaiety.

Abe, you go on an buy the very first ticket. You won't regret! ;^D

Seriously. Jim is just flat-out funny. Everybody is somewhat slightly demented and if you're in touch with your inner-moron you'll go see the movie and get a big laugh out of it.

Carrey's top in this movie, by the way. I've read part of the book it's based on, it's really good so far, I can't wait to see it. It's a dark comedy, based on a true story of a guy who was one of the most controvertial and genius conmen of our time. This movie will not be a disappiontment, trust me.
