Agora Set Photo Surfaces

The first set photo from Agora has come online. In the film, set in Roman Egypt in the fourth century A.D., Rachel Weisz plays astrologer-philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria, who fights to save the collected wisdom of the ancient world. Her slave Davus (Max Minghella) is torn between his love for his mistress and the possibility of gaining his freedom by joining the rising tide of Christianity.

The Times of Malta reports:

A set has been built at Delimara for the shooting of the ancient Egyptian epic, Agora, based in Roman Egypt in the fourth century AD.

In the movie, Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz plays astrologer-philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria who fights to save the collected wisdom of the ancient world. Her slave Davus (Max Minghella) is torn between his love for his mistress and the possibility of gaining his freedom by joining the rising tide of Christianity.

Rachel Weisz is a good choice. Not only is she a great actress but she has a timeless beauty to her that can fit almost any time period.

If this is an honest film, the catholic church will likely be upset seeing a mob of christians stripping a woman and stabbing this peaceful platonist librarian with sea-shells. No doubt it will be a whitewash.

yeah it is cool, and actually i live in malta at marsaxlokk one of the placec where agora has been filmed. i used to see the scenery every day from my home it was huge and buetifull. they left like a week and a half ago.
