Four Board Perry's Madea Goes to Jail

April 18, 2008

Keshia Knight Pulliam ("The Cosby Show") will star as an imprisoned prostitute in Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail). Derek Luke also stars, along with Tamela Mann and David Mann, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The Lionsgate comedy centers on Madea (Perry), whose penchant for trouble-making lands her behind bars. She comes to the rescue of Candy (Pulliam), a fellow inmate preyed upon by a large woman named Big Sal. Luke is on track to play Joshua, an attorney who has a past with Candy.

Writer-director Perry, who based the film on his play, is producing the project with Reuben Cannon as well as playing multiple roles.

Filming is set to begin in mid-May in Atlanta, with a tentative early 2009 release planned.

Pulliam recently appeared in Perry's TBS series "House of Payne."

For once I'd be horrified by a strip search in a women-in-prison film...

I agree, Now if Tyler Perry can take his ego bearing name out of even one title and make a movie that doesn't actually suck I would be surprized... I believe that I am his target audience and well I say it sucks horse **** every single one of them...done deal. His movies are not funny not heart warming or whatever they're meant to be and medea is so obviously a man in a dress that you can't for a second believe anyone (movie or not) would fall for it... People gave the Wayans a hard time saying that White chicks those guys in their makeup no one would fall for that ARE YOU KIDDING THAT"S MORE REALISTIC than how MEDEA comes across...

What are you people talking about? Tyler Perry's movies get the greenlight because...Guess what? they actually make money..You think Lionsgate would give him a 6 picture contract if he wasnt bringing them any profit? And Dante Payne...Perry's movie Why did I get married? was not a Madea movie, and its his most successfull movie to date. I have no problem with Tyler Perry, yeah i know his movie is mainly targeted for one particular demographic...but at least he is not doing your stero typical gangster life, bling bling movie...his movies are not perfect but he trys to send good messages through them life good family values....which is the very thing thats been lacking with magority of families in America.
Like so many other people have posted on SHH or Comingsoon...if you dont like it, just dont go and see it!!!

Im getting really tired of Tyler Perry. House of Payne is a dreadfully awful show and should be taken off the air.

I agree with Mike. (nice Talladega Nights reference) It isn't so much that his movies are geared to a certain demographic, they are based off of actual stories and people that Tyler Perry knows. And the reason a lot of folks dont like his movies is because they are to serious/dramatic. In all comedy though people there is tragedy. His movies send a strong Christian message to a people who lack any sense of Christian values. I think Tyler Perry is a good director and should keep up the good work
