Panabaker the Female Lead in Friday the 13th

Danielle Panabaker has been cast as the female lead in the new Friday the 13th film, which Marcus Nispel is directing for Platinum Dunes, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Also joining the cast are Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle and Aaron Yoo. The project already features Jared Padalecki in the cast.

Panabaker is playing the adventurous, athletic girlfriend of van Winkle, who plays a rich alpha male type that gathers everyone together.

Yoo's character, named Chumbler, is a guy who's a little quirky and has a tendency to wear his attraction to pretty girls on his sleeve. Sadowski plays a techie who knows the horrific history of Camp Crystal Lake.

I hope they keep the first person perspective of the killer like in the original. I will wait until I see a teaser or trailer before passing judgment.

What happened to Amanda Righetti? I thought she was going to be the female lead. Does that mean she's not in the movie now, or is she playing a different character?

Panabaker looks like a Righetti replacement so I'm guessing no Amanda in the Friday the 13th remake. I do like Aaaron Yoo he's a good character actor in both The Perfect Score and Disturbia

This is actually good, Panabaker has proven to be quite a good actress not that you need an Oscar worthy performance in this but hopefully it won't be dumb girl screaming around. I think Amanda is still in it she may be playing another character.

I really dont know about these remakes. I think they ruin the reputation of the original classic. Very few remakes live up to the originals so I dont really like the idea. First Pyscho, Halloween, now Friday the 13th and My Bloody Valentine. Oh boy they just dont do so well in the horror remake catagory. I hope they dont even try Nightmare on Elm st. Because nobody can play Freddy but Robert Englund. Anyway I love the originals.
