Natalie Portman Joins Wuthering Heights

April 11, 2008

Natalie Portman is attached to star as romantic fiction icon Catherine Earnshaw in a new adaptation of Emily Brontė's Wuthering Heights, being produced by Ecosse Films.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ecosse's Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae will produce from a script by Olivia Hetreed (Girl With a Pearl Earring). John Maybury will direct.

Brontė's "Heights," one of the classics of English literature, tells of the intense, elemental and yet ultimately thwarted passion between Earnshaw and Heathcliff.

Several screen versions have been made over the decades, and the 1939 version with Merle Oberon as Earnshaw and Laurence Olivier as Heathcliff has long been considered the definitive version.

No start date has been set.

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium was God-awful. Not even Natalie could save it.

Silas, Padme is a character, and one she hasn't played for years. Her name is Natalie Portman.

Bad film choices? Magorium's aside, she's done brilliant films. Closer. Garden State. Leon (Professional). Other Boylen Girl.

Portman is a fnatastic actress who has made some great films such as Garden State and Leon.

I would suggest alot of people who abuse her acting never actually bothered watching these and only saw her admittedly rubbish Padme charcter.

Natalie Portman can deliver in almost any movie she has ever done. I love her in period pieces. She brings a great energy to the screen.

First off, for the people that think this is going to be boring or whatever, don't watch it. Simple as that. Wuthering Heights is one of the greatest additions to literature of all time. Secondly, Natalie Portman is a wonderful actress and suprising to me that she didn't win that Oscar for Closer. She brings talent to projects like this. And as a Star Wars fan, and unfortunately, disappointed by the prequel trilogy, she did do a good job as Padme. To me you could really see where Leia got her strength.
