New Regency has bought Aaron Philson Brown's action spec Smash for Barry Josephson (Enchanted) to produce.

Variety says the story centers on a rebellious teen who moves to a suburban Midwest town where the popular crowd lures him into their world of souped-up cars and demolition derbies.

Josephson is producing They Came From Upstairs for 20th Century Fox and Regency as well as an adaptation of the "Sisters Grimm" series of books at Regency.

I could see it now...the rebellious teen gets his old hunk of junk (but still reliable) car that belonged to his dead father destroyed by the stereo typical jock, the leader of the pack and his suped up horse powered mustang with razor sharped rims. the not so innocent girlfriend of the jock/villian befriends the rebel teen, feeling sorry for him then starts giving him rides to school because he no longer has a car...then one day the rebel teen encounters a mysterious mechanic whos in his 40's...the mechanic becomes his mentor, and teaches him the ways of the greese monkey, and helps the rebel teen rebuild is fathers car...also teaching him on how to handle himself in a demolotion derby. We come to discover that the mechanic knows way too much of this sport, because he was once a demolotion driver himself....you know let me stop here, we all know how this movie will end...does any care to finish off the movie for me?

Ozone, I don't anyone else could've told the story better than you just did. It's so sad that lame movies like this keep getting made. Underground demo derby's? Seriously, that's the best idea they had? I'm glad I don't waste my money on P.O.S. movies like these.
