EXCL: Ejiofor and Hurt Prep for Travis' Endgame

A few months back, ComingSoon.net talked to Vantage Point director Pete Travis and he told us about his next movie Endgame, a feature-length thriller for England's Channel 4 about the end of Apartheid in South Africa. (You can read that here, oh forgetful ones!)

Earlier today, ComingSoon.net spoke to actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (Talk to Me, American Gangster) about his starring role in David Mamet's first movie in nearly four years, the martial arts drama Redbelt and he told us that his next movie will be that very same movie, co-starring with William Hurt, and that he'd start the rehearsal process on Monday before going down to South Africa to shoot the film. Ejiofor told us that he'll be playing President Thabo Mbeki in the film. He also told us that Danny Glover's planned biopic Tousaint with which Ejifor was involved was still in development.

You can read our full interview, an insightful one for sure, with Chiwetel sometime in the next few weeks leading up to the release of Redbelt in New York and Los Angeles on May 2.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is an amazing actor. He played the part of emotionless and single minded killer in "Serenity" to perfection, as well as a cross dressing shoe designer in the sadly underrated "Kinky Boots" which I watch regularly with my wife at least once every couple of weeks. And if you watch closely he was the better half of the relationship in "Love Actually" with Keira Knightly.
I’m very much looking forward to this film and his future projects.

Hey Edward.
I’m a long long long time reader and first time poster, I don’t know why I never posted before but here I am. I have followed CS and the Weekend Warrior for near on 8 years now, and it has always been my source of movie news and whether or not I should watch a movie or how I approach a particular film.

Chiwetel is one of the new great actors...between Serenity, Kinky Boots, Talk To Me, and Four Brothers, as well as his small roles in Inside Man and American Gangster, he's proven that he has an incredible range. Here's hoping that starring roles in this film and David Mamet's Redbelt put him closer to the Hollywood A-List!! The guy deserves it.

Don't forget about "Dirty Pretty Things". He was outstanding then and continues to produce stellar work. Truly under appreciated.

Edward - thanks for getting back...feel free to let me know if you want some assistance with some of the Australian fare that is being released into mainstream.
Looking forward to your Summer (our winter)box office piece. This year should be a landmark year for Hero movies, and could very well be either the catalyst of future projects or a nail in the coffin on the genre until they are in effect resurrected in abotu 10 years to be "reimagined", "reloaded", "redone", "rehashed", "recashcowed".

As for Chiwetel Ejiofor, i am ashamed that i still yet to see Children of Men and Dirty Pretty Things. I shall be hiring these bad boys out this weekend.
