Mears is Jason in New Friday the 13th

Derek Mears, who recently starred in The Hills Have Eyes 2 and has done stunts for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, will reportedly play Jason Voorhees in New Line Cinema and Platinum Dunes' new Friday the 13th movie.

Ken Kirzinger last suited up and strapped on the Voorhees hockey mask in Freddy vs. Jason.

To be directed by Marcus Nispel from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the film, starring Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural"), is scheduled for a release on February 13, 2009.

From what i have heard this movie takes place right after the first movie ends. Where Jason watches his mom get killed.

again, this is not a remake of the original, i promise. jason's mom will not have to be cast other than perhaps a latexed up skull. It's supposedly taking place between movies 3 and 4.

4 picked up at the end of 3, with Jason's "body" being moved from the crime scene into an ambulance and then to the hospital. There's no gap to be utilized.

The guy looks like Jaso might look under the mask but I say Ken should play Jason again - he did a great job - I man Jason ran fully for the first time when he got pissed off and that made him scary.

This just shows you that Hollywood is fresh out of ideas. I kid you not...there are 4 horror movie remakes in the process...you got this next Friday the 13th movie, Nightmare on Elm Street (thats right Freddy's back), Rosemarys baby, and Hellraiser. And you know what all these movies have in common? F'n Michael Bay is producing each of them.

Ozone, no offense, but your little comment that yes Freddy is back was kinda unneccesary. If someone is keeping up with the Friday remake chances are they are keeping up with the Nightmare one was well.

I am glad Jason is in this. If they made one with his mom again it would suck. I hope this is also like part 6 where there is a sheriff involved.
