G.I. Joe Production Moves to Czech Republic

About a month back, ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! spoke with Dennis Quaid for Sony's Vantage Point, and he told us a little about his role in Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe, which you can read here. Yesterday, we spoke to Quaid again for his new ensemble comedy Smart People, and apparently, Quaid is finished shooting his parts as General Hawk, and he mentioned that the production will be heading to the Czech Republic for the next three months to finish shooting. (Maybe they got sick of all those pesky photographers hanging around!)

This information came out of us following up with Quaid whether he might make a visit to this year's San Diego Comic-Con for the movie--he still hasn't heard anything--and whether he had a chance to talk to his Smart People co-star Thomas Haden Church about the experience, since Church was there for the insane 2006 panel for Spider-Man 3.

Why would they do a stupid thing by releasing it in 2009. Doesn't make any sense.

At least this is in the hands of a compitant (I'm sure I spelt that wrong) director. Transformer was put in the hands of a five year old Michael Bay.

It's actually spelled 'competent', but kudos to you for acknowledging it. :)

Transformers was good for what it was - a popcorn film. Truth be told, I'm anticipating the sequel with fairly high expectations. I hope the same can be said for the inevitable G.I. Joe sequel...

competent? Stephen Sommers is hardly what i would call a competent director. Sure, the mummy was fun. sure, deep rising was fun in that its so bad i cant stop laughing at djamon hansou getting an axe in the head(spoiler :P) sort of way. sure the mummy returns was garbage, sure van helsing was a joke to everyone on the production team. But yeah, if you say so then Sommers is competent, in the same way Bay is.

Why do I always read on people hating on Bay? He is what he is...a popcorn movie director. He has an eye for action...all of his movies are eye candy...sure they all lack story, but he knows how to keep us entertained with his crazy visuals and explosions. Who hear cant say they werent sitting on the edge of their seats during the whole attack on Pearl Harbor or the last 40 min of Transformers?
