Director Oliver Stone has set James Cromwell to play George Herbert Walker Bush and Ellen Burstyn to play former first lady Barbara Bush in W, a drama about the formative years of their son, President George W. Bush.

Josh Brolin is playing the title character, and Elizabeth Banks will play first lady Laura Bush.

Stone will direct from a script by his Wall Street co-writer Stanley Weiser. Moritz Borman is producing with Bill Block and Jon Kilik.

The film will begin shooting Shreveport, Louisiana, at the end of April.

Jeffrey Wright is supposedly up for the role Colin Powell and possibly Robert Duvall as Dick Cheney? That's what I heard.

I can't see Cromwell in the role, but Ellen Burstyn...amazing choice.

I was thinking of Cromwell for G.W. Bush Sr. Excellent Choice I think then again I am a fan of Cromwell since Revenge of The Nerds! He will own the role!

Hey Jer, I think you mean that you were thinking of Cromwell for G.H.W. Bush, since technically there is no such person as G.W. Bush Sr. You're an idiot.

Probably not a wise idea to spend all of this money on high priced (OK medium priced) talent.

I sense a movie that's going to flop as Stone will probably blame 9/11 on the Bush family and follow every other kook theory out there. Guess we didn't learn from JFK and Nixon, that mixing history, rumors and creating facts doesn't sell.

At least make a movie about Clinton, it might be tough to avoid the NC-17 rating, but let's face it, there will be some fun scenes.

I have a feeling this movie is going to be really boring and lame. The formative of Bush's life, yeah I'm going to pass on this.
