This is going to be a different type of feature than CS readers may be used to reading here, one that came out of our time spent at ShoWest where we were astounded by the number of times "3D" was mentioned, and being blown away by the use of 3D technology in presentations by DreamWorks, as well as New Line and Walden Media's Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, which we saw in its entirety. Film, a bad gimick in the 20's and it still is.
Let the people that enjoy it enjoy it.
This is the direction that film is going in. You can't stop it so you might as well not complain about it.
Other movies that have thrown in 3D glasses with the DVD, like Spy Kids 3-D, Night of the Living Dead 3D and Sharkboy and Lava Girl, are not presented/projected on your TV in real 3-D.
Yes, it is true that a SMALL percentage of people may experience headaches and/or nausea
while watching a 3D movie. It's probably due to a biological factor as opposed to an old theory that accredited it to a lack of mental capacity. Although... from the postings I've read from the Anti-3D factions, I gotta wonder if there might be some truth in the old theory.
For the rest of us, it's a great incentive to visit the theatre. The scenes in the IMAX Superman Returns that were done in 3D were AWESOME! I wish that all summer blockbusters were 3D. Spiderman would have been a good choice. The last three Star Wars would have been great too. I guess I can only dream of what would have been.
Oh, by the way "tech sucks", it was the 50's not the 20's. Try a history book as opposed to the picture books you've obviously going blind on. Didn't your mother warn you against that?
So, BITE IT Anti 3D-er's!!!
