Rob Cohen's New Mummy Update

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor director Rob Cohen has announced on his official Blog for the movie that, not only is he in heavy post-production for the film, his wife just gave birth to triplets as well! Congrats to you sir. Here's a bit on the movie's status:

I have shown the film to the exec’s at Universal and they are through-the-roof ecstatic. We screened a few weeks ago for all the relevant department heads (home video, distribution, foreign, p.r., marketing, etc.) and the reaction was unanimous. It’s running around 1 hr. 53 minutes and, daily as we hone, it’s taking its final shape. The studio has been very collaborative and supportive. You know they love it when they ask you if you need any more money to enhance the visual effects budget!!! Are there more shots that I want to do but didn’t have the money to do?!!! Of course, the answer is yes; there is never enough to entertain the audience in any film. That kind of support from Chairmen Marc Shmuger and David Linde, President Donna Langley, and V.P.’s Jeff Kirschenbaum and Erik Baiers is rare in Hollywood so I am very pleased all the way around.

Lots more at the link above, where he also mentions that the teaser trailer will debut on his Blog soon.

Well, the mummy series has been a dumb escapist fare. I like it for what it's worth. I will definitely see this one too.

Well, what else is he going to write "they watched it and thought it was ok, not as good as the first but oh well it should do alright" come on this tells us nothing. Remeber his last movie was Stealth.

I think this one's gonna be better than the first two and wash out the horrible aftertaste that still lingers in my mouth of the huge disappointment 'The Mummy Returns'

I've always loved the Chinese culture and mythology; have a lot of respect for them. I'm stoked; definitely gonna see this one.

Are you refering to 'the Scorpion King' instead? THAT was a total bomb. Not to mention having no link to the version in 'the Mummy Returns'. Nevertheless, quite excited to see this one. Its not like i need all the movies i watch to be thought provoking.

I myself loved The Mummy and Mummy Returns.I also enjoyed The Scorpion King.Only thing is though, you can't really compare them. The Scorpion King was a movie to itself,it had nothing to do with the Mummy.Yeah,it was in Mummy Retuns for a little bit with a cgi Rock. The Scorpion King movie itself was a whole differant story line.Plus I'm hyped about this one cause I'm a big Jet Li fan. It'll be awsome seen him and Brenden in the same movie together.

Choen does some cool work. It will be an interesting movie to see when it's done? When is the trailer coming out for this?

>That seems more like they are trying to throw money at a problem than giving praise. Rob is trying to give so much spin that its incredible.

If they thought it didn't look that good, then why would they want to throw lots of time and especially money on him? A few extra effects ain't gonna bring more people to the cinemas.

If a ship is sinking, you don't try to save it, you try to save yourself by escaping. In this case, you don't waste anymore money on said movie.
Maybe that's what you'd do, but I doubt many would do the same.
