ComingSoon.net has your exclusive first look at the poster for Bangkok Dangerous, the new action-thriller from directors Danny and Oxide Pang starring Nicolas Cage. Based on the Pang Brothers' wildly popular Hong Kong action film of the same name, the movie was written by Jason Richman.

In the Lionsgate release, opening August 22, the life of an anonymous assassin takes an unexpected turn when he travels to Thailand to complete a series of contract killings. Joe (Cage), a remorseless hitman, is in Bangkok to execute four enemies of a ruthless crime boss named Surat. He hires Kong (Shahkrit Yamnarm), a street punk and pickpocket, to run errands for him with the intention of covering his tracks by killing him at the end of the assignment. Strangely, Joe, the ultimate lone wolf, instead finds himself mentoring the young man while simultaneously being drawn into a tentative romance with a local shop girl. As he falls further under the sway of Bangkok's intoxicating beauty, Joe begins to question his isolated existence and let down his guard... just as Surat decides it's time to clean house.

Yeah, that has to be one of the lamest posters I´ve ever seen. Even if it is just a teaser poster. The one who made this didn´t have the time to think about what to do or there simply wasn´t any money available. Just sticking the actor´s head on there doesn´t work. Can that head be any bigger?

Since when does the presence of Nic Cage ensure a movie will be any good? Have we all forgotten the royal ****-up that was Ghost Rider?

with a few exceptions, the art of movie posters has just gone downhill in the past decade or so. Just a bunch of photoshop heads splatted together, or huge ass closeups like the one above. You look throughout film history and you will find some very amazing and original work done for film posters, but this is long gone.

What also pisses me off is when older films (or recent releases as well) have awesome theatrical posters, but then when it comes out on DVD...what happens....lameass photoshop crap. Pisses me off.
