First 2 Photos of G.I. Joe's Snake Eyes!

Paramount Pictures has released the first two photos of Ray Park as Snake Eyes in the Stephen Sommers-directed G.I. Joe, coming to theaters on August 7, 2009.

"He's the world's greatest ninja, but he's also next-generation. He's not afraid to use a sword one second, and a split-second later he's pulling out his Glock," Sommers told USA Today. "His chief nemesis is arguably the world's other great ninja, Storm Shadow. The two grew up together, were blood brothers and now are mortal enemies."

Sommers stressed that the movie is an origins story, so his challenge is to explain why the bad guy wears a metal mask, why Snake Eyes doesn't talk and other strange things kids took for granted. "For people who know nothing about it, it'll make sense," Sommers said. "And to people who love this stuff, it'll show where they all came from."

Adapted by Stuart Beattie, the action-adventure also stars Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo and Christopher Eccleston.

Lookin good.
Didn't know Ray Park was playing him. We know he'll have some good moves then. (Darth Maul in SW, Horseman in Sleepy Hollow).

Cool as fu#@ing hell!!!! Some times film makers mess up the transition from comic/video game/cartoon to movie. I still have nightmares about the removal of the skull from the first Punisher movie. They could have just put a regular ninja outfit on with the eye mask or put in an all black regular swat type outfit to make it more real. How do I know? That's the way the idiots have made several transitions in the past.

But, this time they got it right. Snake eyes looks just like he does in the cartoon since the film makers are NOT stupid enough to mess with perfection.

He looks like snake eyes but cooler. That is what movies are supposed to do. Pay respects to what made the original material so popular and then take it to the next level for a movie.

I just red the coming soon info above the photos. What? To top off the bad ass look, Ray Parker is underneath that cool as hell outfit. If they give the rest of the characters in the movie just as much DETAILS in quality than this movie is going to be one of the top movies of all time.

I am a GI Joe fan, have the cartoon movie on vhs and watch it all the time. But, I was not as excited about this movie until now.

Looks terrible. Looks worse than the old live action commercials selling the action figures. Don't remember those? Then you'll love this terrible movie. It's directed by the same guy that directed Mummy Returns and Van Helsing, and brought you Scorpion King. Can you really be excited about that?

This looks pretty freaking awesome. Snake-Eyes was a favorite character of mine when I was growing up and seeing him done justice in a live action translation is pretty great.
