Will Eisner's The Spirit writer/director Frank Miller has updated the movie's official website with a fourth Production Blog, in which he talks about the adaptation of The Spirit's main love interest Ellen Dolan from the pages of Eisner's comic series, to Miller's vision on film. The character is played by the always great Sarah Paulson ("Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip") in the movie.

Check out the update, as well as the three previous Production Blogs, here!

Coming to theaters on January 16, 2009, Lionsgate's action-adventure stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Paz Vega, Jamie King, Dan Lauria, Stana Katic, Johnny Simmons and Louis Lombardi.

Is Miller ever releasing a still? If he's going to become a director he's going to have to understand fans need visual updates so that they don't lose interest in the project. Come on, I know he's been busy editing but one damn picture. One finished frame couldn't be too hard to come up with.

I hope this is rated R, or it is not going to be as great as it could of been.

Spirit rated R? I think you should read some of the Spirit stories by Eisner. There is NO need to make this movie rated R and still be a faithful adaptation of the material. Eisner's stories were filled with adventure, comedy and were...get this...all-ages appropriate. I hope Frank understands this and doesn't pull a Spirit "Sin City" style.

Yeah, I agree too. Eisner's comics had violence and sexy romance, but nothing really like Frank Miller's R-rated comics. I want to see the Eisner version brought to life faithfully. And with all the gorgeous femme fatales cast in this film it should be fun to see ol' Denny Colt with his hands full... ;)

GDGX2008: "If he's going to become a director he's going to have to understand fans need visual updates so that they don't lose interest in the project." ----Two things, 1) that is such a condescending thing to say. Who the hell are you, Martin Scorsese? 2) the director usually has nothing to do with promotion. Only recently have people like JJ Abrams taken major control over marketing ideas. That said, I would also like to see a production still.

JOHNRAMDOE: sorry if my post sounded condescending but I've been following the progress of The Spirit since the casting. So all this hype for a production blog when the film has wrapped over a month ago kinda pissed me off. Ali: stills give an idea of the visual aspect of a movie and since I don't read scripts like most people I want a few images. Also the Watchmen stills look odd because the characters in the comic look that way. Synder tried somewhat to update the look, I do admit the Owl does have "Batman & Robin" feel.
