Empire Online talked to director Bryan Singer, who says that he has started working on Superman: Man of Steel.

"I'm just getting back with writers after the strike. We're just in the development phase. I'm starting to develop a sequel...with the intention of directing it," he told the magazine.

About the negative reaction to the first film's focus on the drama instead of the action, Singer added, "The first one was a romantic film and a nostalgic film... And now that the characters are established, there's really an opportunity to up the threat levels."

"now that the characters are established"!?!

4 previous movies, endless cartoons, and over 60 years of comic books. Yeah, Brian, SUperman really need you to 'establish him'. Admit it, you made a movie that was crappy and entirely too long!!

Also, Brian, when you go about planning this sequel, try to remember Lex Luthor is not the ONLY villian in the Superman universe.

Oh thank god. I enjoyed the movie, but the story is somewhat left as a mess. Im very interested to see how Bryan Singer will clean this up. Hopefully the addition of a good villian. No more kryponite mountains...

The last one had some amazing moments. Come on, tell me you didnt get goose bumps the first time he showed up, rescuing the jet from crashing? That was so good.
But the kid?
EEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH.
I dont know.

Get with it Singer. Your Superman sucked. There are countless villians for you to choose from and we get another Lex Luthor wants real estate movie? Wanna bet Lex is the baddie in the new one too. Please don't ruin Superman for everyone.

Just follow these simple rules when outlining a new script for The Man of Steel:

1) Forget about the kid from "Superman Returns." It was a bad decision, so do away with him quickly and quietly.

2) No Lex Luthor, but if you can get Spacey to come back, let him shoot some sort of cameo. Brainiac, Bizarro, Zod, Metallo, Darkseid, etc...Use another villian!

3) Recast Lois Lane. Bosworth is gorgeous, but she doesn't embody anything about Lois Lane. Suggestions? Anne Hathaway perhaps, or Selma Blair?

I am a Superman fan; my favorite character growing up as a child and still is, to an extent. I want to see a full-on Superman movie, the likes of which most of us read in comic books. Superman Returns, despite it's flaws, was made with good intentions and was not a complete waste of time. It was long, followed many plot points from Donner's original to no end and incorporated that Superboy. But, the casting of Routh was spot-on, Luthor actually seemed like Lex Luthor, the effects were great and the scope was grand. I'll wait to see Singer pull off an X2 with this franchise.

This is what i wanted to hear man because Superman Returns was good for what it was supposed to be, it wasnt an action film but it was a good romance story. The kid was a good twist and i like how they arent making the kid a "Possible Superboy/man." So, its just a kid with some gifts. Now I belive his take on a Superman with action will be awesome!
