Alison Lohman is replacing Ellen Page in the lead role of Sam Raimi's supernatural thriller Drag Me to Hell at Universal Pictures.

Page had been poised to topline the Ghost House Pictures/Mandate Pictures project but stepped aside due to scheduling conflicts.

The film, which will mark Raimi's first helming effort since Spider-Man 3, is a morality tale about the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse.

Shooting in Los Angeles is scheduled to begin March 31, two weeks later than the pic's original start date. Raimi wrote the screenplay with his brother Ivan.

Rob Tapert, Grant Curtis and Josh Donen are producing. Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake executive produce.

Lohman, whose credits include Matchstick Men and Big Fish, recently appeared in Robert Zemeckis' Beowulf and Things We Lost in the Fire.

Congratulations! Now try posting a comment that's worth reading.

Lohman is a good choice. I liked her in Matchstick Men and Big Fish. This could be a real boost for her career.

I have little faith in Raimi's writing skills after Spider-Man 3.

When has writing been one of Raimi's strengths? Aside from clever one-liners, he has no ear for dialogue, remember Evil Dead 1-3?

Oh God! I first thought the article said, "Lohan replaces Page..." What a horrible choice that would have been! Boy, was I way off! Thank God!

Damn it im tired of seeing people putting "FIRST" when there the first to leave a comment. GROW THE **** UP, AND IF YOU DONT CARE ABOUT WHAT THESE SOURCES HAVE TO SAY TO KEEP YOU UPDATED ON THESE MOVIES THEN DON'T LEAVE A ****ING COMMENT. WHO GIVES A **** IF YOUR FIRST BECAUSE YOUR NOT GOING TO GET LIKE AN OSCAR AWARD FOR BEING THE FIRST ONE TO BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT. GEEZ I BET YOUR STILL A VIRGIN AND LIVE AT HOME WITH YOUR PARENTS.

....Oh and i can't wait for this movie, it's been a long time since sam raimi has done a horror/supernatural movie since the Evil Dead franchise so this is going to be a treat for me. I heard that he was planing on remaking the first Evil Dead movie but i guess there not going to do it because i haven't heard or read anything else about it.

Sam Raimi's last horror film was 2000/2001's "The Gift."

Yes, while Sam Rami is a brilliant director who can do both character/brilliant action scenes - his writing on Spider-Man 3 was poor. It felt like an extended TV episode of Xena.

I recall "The Gift" was written by someone else and was kind of a low key Sixth Sense style film.

As much as I enjoy Raimi's films, he honestly really isn't that great.
