According to Variety, Disney is moving forward with a third installment of its hit dance franchise "Step Up," tentatively titled Step Up 3-D.

The film will become the latest 3-D live-action film from the studio, with Step Up 2 the Streets director Jon Chu in talks to reprise.

Offspring Entertainment partners Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot will develop the film; the pair produced the first two "Step Up" pics.

"Step Up 2" earned a strong $28.7 million over the five-day Presidents Day weekend. The picture, co-financed by Disney and Summit Entertainment, cost $20 million to make.

This week, Shankman began directing the Adam Sandler starrer Bedtime Stories for Disney.

Among the projects that Offspring is developing at Disney are Undateable, a comedy scripted by Jack Angelo and Sam Brown (with Fuse Entertainment also producing); Monday, Monday, a Flint Wainess-scripted comedy that is a teenage Groundhog Day; Wish, a live-action Aladdin scripted by Bill Kelly (Enchanted); a Jason Filardi-scripted Topper remake that Offspring will produce with Mandeville, with Steve Martin starring; and a Don Scott-scripted remake of All of Me that has Queen Latifah attached to star.

wouldn't it be a perfect world where we would all talk and have dialogue just like the HILLS with a touch of gangster in it and to top it all off if we could only dance to settle our differences.
Why is it that this is a Disney movie sequel that didn't go directly to dvd?

Okay,.. I haven't seen either of the Step Up movies, but I have to say, Part 2 does look pretty good. I do have plans to now watch part one and then see the second... Someone asked:

"Why is it that this is a Disney movie sequel that didn't go directly to dvd?"

The answer:

(1) The first movie had a budget of $12 million and cleared over $65 million in the U.S. and over $107 worldwide, That's a $95 million profit!!

(2) The second movie had a budget of $20 million and made that all back in the first week plus $8 million, and is now made over $41 million in the first 12 days.

Asking that question is like asking someone, "Why would you take a video game and sell it on eBay for $30 when you can take it to a pawnshop and sell it for $5... It just wouldn't have made sense for it to go straight to video!! Do I like the movies, once again, I don't know, but they sure do look interesting...

By the way, not sure why the system blocked the word 1st with five stars. I guess the spelling of 1st is a curse word now???
