Fanning Sisters Replaced in Keeper

Abigail Breslin will replace Elle Fanning and Sofia Vassilieva is near a deal to replace Dakota Fanning in New Line drama My Sister's Keeper, directed by Nick Cassavetes.

Variety says Dakota Fanning balked at a request that she shave her head for the role and both sisters withdrew abruptly.

Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) will take over the role of a young girl who sues for emancipation from parents who conceived her as a genetic match so she could prolong the life of her ailing older sister. Vassilieva ("Medium") would play the older sister.

Cameron Diaz plays the mother of the girls, a tough lawyer who takes her own case in court. Alec Baldwin plays the attorney who represents the child. Joan Cusack will also star in the drama, a Jeremy Leven-scripted adaptation of the Jodi Picoult novel.

Production is still on track for March, with Mark Johnson and Chuck Pacheco producing.

Shaving her head? That may have been the excuse, but I tend to think it runs deeper than that. Dakota's career has been on the ropes since the "Hounddog" debacle. Elle's star, in comparison, may just have risen dramatically at this year's Sundance... the same place where Dakota was humiliated last year. This is the second time that Dakota has turned away from an opportunity to act alongside her little sister. Maybe the subject matter here struck a little too close to home.

WHAAAATTTTTTTTt all the actress involved in this movie are wrong!!! did they even read the book...what a disaster, this movie is gonna blow, abigail breslin looks nothing like Anna in the book...booooooooooo what a waste

Good thing Dakota is not in this, but people will still say she's in every movie, though. She's only got 3 movies coming out this year, and more on the way. Her career is stronger than ever.
