Is Josh Brolin the New Terminator?

February 6, 2008

In a new interview with The Two-One-Three, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins director McG hinted that No Country for Old Men star Josh Brolin might play the new Terminator opposite Christian Bale's John Connor.

"We're prepping the picture right now. The script is largely done, whether or not we're able to prep off of it, obviously we want to continue to work on it, punch it up and we're hoping for an expedient finish to the writer's strike. But I've got my fingers crossed that in a week or two it will be over," McG said.

He added that the fourth film will take place "post Judgment day. So there really is no continuation, you know what I mean? Its sort of a different animal, whereas the first two pictures on this thing are Terminators from the future, this picture takes place in 2019."

There's been rumors that John Connor will only be a small part in the film. Not so, says McG. "John Connor's a major player in it - Christian Bale's playing that part."

Asked who his "dream Terminator" would be? McG revealed, "...And there's guys out there like Russell Crowe and Eric Bana, bring a good physicality, they do what they do, but I don't know if they're exactly right at the end of the day. (Smiles) Josh Brolin is a very exciting actor - we'll see."

Can't wait for the next Terminator movie now that Batman is John Conner. It's a pitty Comingsoon.net doesn't have watchable video interviews. I would have liked to see the way he smiles whn he says Josh Brolin. You can tell alot in the way people say certain things.

I'm thinking there will not be a Hero Terminator this time around, so Brolin would be a great choice for the villain Terminator. He has a dark presence about him. He would be perfect.

Also, I'm really liking this new comment section in the news feeds. Great job ComingSoon!

McG...its so sad, why would they give him a chance to screw this up?

McG is a hack! Due to his involvement it is apparent that the producers are more interested in killing the Terminator franchise and getting rich in the process rather than doing the research necessary to keep the franchise alive and fresh. I will not be seeing this in theaters but will wait until it's on DVD for a year then Netflix it.

I like McG's movies for the most part, they are entertaining. I really hope he does a great job with Terminator, I'm kind of frightened that it will be too dumbied down. Only time will tell I guess.

Josh Brolin could be good as a terminator.

I think McG is missing the point that what makes the Terminator character work is having someone we dont exactly recognize in the role.

McG is the one person I could think of to screw up any franchise, with close seconds going to Brett Ratner and Michael Bay. I don't have to be sent from the future to tell you this movie sucks.

I have to agree MCG will ruin a very good franchise. You only have to consider is credits to no he will make it look less edgey and more playful with unrealstic stunts and sfx.

This series (I hate the word franchise - it makes me think of McDonalds) died the day Jim Cameron walked away.
