Walt Disney Pictures has revealed this first photo of princess Tiana in the studio's traditionally-animated The Princess and the Frog, coming to theaters in 2009. The movie is written and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements and features the music of Randy Newman.

A musical set in the legendary birthplace of jazz -- New Orleans -- "The Princess and the Frog" will introduce the newest Disney princess, Tiana (voiced by Anika Noni Rose), a young African-American girl living amid the charming elegance and grandeur of the fabled French Quarter. From the heart of Louisiana's mystical bayous and the banks of the mighty Mississippi comes an unforgettable tale of love, enchantment and discovery with a soulful singing crocodile, voodoo spells and Cajun charm at every turn.

It IS about time!!!! Can't believe it has taken this long. Disney needs to have the dolls and figurines and posters to go along with this movie like every other movie they have. They also need to look at expanding the black characters in other Disney movies. I can think of several where there are NO black characters!!!! Instead of having movies like this where all characters are black and Mulan where all are asian, mix them up like in the everyday world!!!!

It's a shame that it has taken this long for Disney to announce that they are going to create a black princess and even more of a shame that it is still going to take another year for her.

I think they should have been done that. I was upset when Disney did "Lion King", which was set in Africa, and not one black face to be seen. I thought it was mighty strange that when Disney decided to do a movie set in Africa, all the characters are animals with black voices. What the hell was that all about? Also, notice when they have a Latino-type character, it's always a dog (typically a chihuahua) or some sort of animal? I've never seen a latina princess in a Disney movie. Wake up, Disney!

Who the **** cares about all this racial stuff? It's a CARTOON! I think it's really f*** up that everything has to be about race nowadays. Why not just enjoy the films in their simplicity?

It's about time Disney finally considered going back to the classic 2D animation. It feel good to be going back to the traditional ways.

This new Frog Princess movie looks like it's going to be good. Looking forward to it.

I think this movie is stupid. not b/c it is a black princess, but b/c it was suppose to be about the book The Frog Princess(which is like the best book ever) and it is nothing like it. Who ever wrote, directed or has anything to do w/ this movie shame on you. This movie is stupid and shouldn't be made unless they change it so it is like Frog Princess
