Bale Joining Depp in Mann's Public Enemies

Variety says that Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp in Michael Mann's upcoming Public Enemies.

According to the trade, Bale will play Melvin Purvis, the legendary FBI agent who led the manhunt for John Dillinger. Depp is starring as Dillinger in the film, which is set up at Universal and is slated to begin production in March.

Mann is producing via his Forward Pass, with Kevin Misher and his Misher Films. Jane Rosenthal of Tribeca is executive producing.

"In the 2007 interview, Marion Cotillard said that she believed the public was "lied to about a number of things" regarding the 9/11 attacks. She even hinted that the U.S. destroyed the Twin Towers so that they could rebuild them -- referring to the buildings as a "money sucker.""

Filming of Public Enemies in northern WI at the Little Bohemia Restaurant ended today, 4/30/08. The cast/crew are now filming near the WI Dells area.
