Surf's Up! Point Break 2 Closer to Filming

ComingSoon.net learned at the American Film Market (AFM) today that shooting for Point Break 2 will begin mid-2008 in Southeast Asia. The sequel will be financed and executive produced by Singaporean company RGM Entertainment. It will be written and directed by Peter Iliff, who also wrote the first movie.

Point Break 2 picks up from where the original film left off more than 15 years ago. The story will revolve around an ex-professional surfer who enlists in the US Navy and is recruited to track down a criminal gang based in Southeast Asia. The audience will also discover the fate of Bodhi (Patrick Swayze), the surfers' charismatic leader who was swallowed by a giant killer wave in the final scene of Point Break. Did he really die?

The follow-up is budgeted at $20-30 million.

"I wrote 'Point Break' in 1987 when I was still a struggling writer waiting at tables in Malibu," Iliff said earlier this year, "'Point Break' was the turning point and it made my screen writing career. 20 years later, I'm thrilled to have been given the opportunity by RGM Entertainment to write the sequel and to make my directorial debut with 'Point Break 2.'"

Love the movie. Wouldn't mind seeing a sequal, as long as it's just as brilliant.

Look, the original Point Break was awsome and I think that everyone that saw it would love to know what happened to Bodhi. But please do not use any actors that do not even come close to the skill of the original actors. Dont butcher the movie that inspired me to do the crazy stuff I do now. That would be tragedy.

the title is Point Break Indo,, but in lots of reviews, they're stating that the filming location is in Singapore and Australia and not in Indonesia. so why is it entitled Point Break Indo instead of Point Break Spore or Point Break Ausie?

no matter how good the script is you can't make the sequal without keanu or swayze. For how long people have been waiting for this also after swayze almost die this comeback will boost the movie like never before. This movie is a classic please don't kill it with cheap characters. Put some f.. money on the table and make it good how many milliions can you make with a sequal with the original cast. 99% of the people who saw the first one definetly is gonna watch it asap in the theaters. it's al about money isn't it? I didn't wait 15 years to see pice of crap sequal.
Better just change the name and call it whatever.
