After years of David Duchovny talking about the sequel, and almost 10 years after the first feature, 20th Century is finally ready to start production on The X Files 2 with the actor in place to reprise his role of Special Agent Fox Mulder. Gillian Anderson is also expected to be back on board to play Special Agent Dana Scully.

Shooting is scheduled to begin on December 10 in Vancouver under the direction of series creator Chris Carter. Carter and Frank Spotnitz wrote the script.

The studio is referring to the film in casting breakdowns as "Done One."

The popular series ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002. Rob Bowman directed the first feature, which hit theaters on June 19, 1998.

I've read that Mulder and Scully's relationship will take an unexpected direction, hopefully that doesn't mean they go their seperate ways. I've been waiting for this new movie since i was about 13. I'm now 19 Bring on the love fest!

Halleluja!!!!! Been such a big fan from the beginning of the series and was SO sad to see it end. Never was there anything like it before and hasn't been anything close since. So those of us who crave a long awaited fix are besides ourselves one the news that Mulder and Scully are back with us. Please, don't let this new turn of events that is mentioned be that of the complete end of any further adventures of these 2 FBI agents. They have such an incredible chemistry within the X-Files......this is what makes the magic of it all, what draws us to the theaters...hard to find. We can only hope this upcoming movie is the beginning of a long continuation of a rare and wonderful unusual compilation of sci-fi and human dramas know as the X-Files. Thank you David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and Chris Carter for your giving us all yet another exciting journey to look forward to. Hats off to you all........CAN'T WAIT! Sincerely, Yodlem

This I will be seeing at a midnight showing. However, Reyes and Doggeett ruined the show. They had better not even make a cameo in this one.

Definately about time! When x-files went of the air, the only show that really maintains my interest nowadays is GHOST WHISPERER with Jennifer love hewitt. That show rocks (is it a coincidence that Mark Snow does the music on both?!?!?) but I'm so psyched that Xfiles is back!!
