ComingSoon.net got a chance to chat on Friday with director Brad Bird at the press day for his new animated-adventure, Rataouille. Naturally, we asked him about Toy Story 3 and a possible sequel to The Incredibles.

"It's going to be good," Bird said about the third "Toy Story." "We wouldn't do it if we didn't think it could be good." The third film, to be voiced again by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, is coming to theaters in 2010.

But would he do another "Incredibles"? "I do if I can come up with a story that is as good or better than the first one. If I can come up with a "Toy Story 2" with "The Incredibles," then I would do it in a second. I have pieces that I think are good, but I don't have them all together."

Bird said sequels aren't part of Pixar's business plan. "We've made one and we're going to make another... We don't make it for any reason other than if it's a movie we want to see and a story we're excited to tell, we will go after it. We don't do it for money. Walt Disney once said that he doesn't make films to make money, he makes money to make films. That's very much Pixar's philosophy. It's why we're in the game."

Rataouille opens in theaters on June 29.

Pixar is crazy if they don't do a sequel to the Incredibles. With how good the first movie turned out, the sequel would bring in millions! Get to work Brad Bird! My family, friends, and I will all be waiting unpatiently! Even if the storyline sucks and the movie ideas are stupid Pixar would still make a fortune on the movie!

Jonathan H. Did you not read Brad Byrd's philosophy on making films. Their concern is not with making big bucks it's with quality. That has always been Pixar's philosophy and for that I applaud them. All to often we see other companies rush to do sequals to make a quick buck. And the result is a crappy film.
Brad, keep doing what you are doing. I am excited about Toy Story 3 and hope you come up with enough GOOD ideas for the Incredibles 2 film.

Of course they find out he has super powers. I'm sure they saw some of what happened in the air and their government friend would tell them what Carly said. But regardless Incredibles 2 would ROCK!

I 100% agree that sequels lacking quality should not be released. The most recent Indiana Jones movie is an excellent example of why a production company shouldn't make movies just to make a quick buck! Boy what a losey movie was! However, I feel the Incredibles have enough character depth, creative potential and relevant humor for at least four sequels. I for one would be in line for every one of them. Hopefully the pieces will come together for more of a good thing!
