It's building up to be the fantasy spectacle of the summer – Stardust. Based on the Neil Gaiman novel, and directed by Matthew Vaughn, the film is nearly a who's who of Hollywood starring Robert De Niro, Claire Danes, Michelle Pheiffer, Ian McKellen, Ricky Gervais, and Rupert Everett – just to name a few.

During the press junket for Shrek the Third, Rupert gave us a little insight on his character in Stardust. "I play a character who's pushed off a roof at the beginning of the film and then he becomes a ghost."

He also described the film as "a parallel universe next door to the real world; it's a really good film made by Matthew Vaughn. It has some great performances in there – Michelle Pheiffer's best performances ever; she becomes really old, 300/400 years old and she's amazing, she looks incredible, just very good."

As keen as he was on the film, the making of it wasn't so exciting for him; because he dies pretty quickly into it, the rest of his performance was done on green screen – the bain of his existence. "It was so boring, so boring; I've never been so bored in my life – and that was my most bored ever. Standing in front of a piece of green screen in a studio; some people do it for months, I only did it for a few weeks. But it really does get you down. A whole lot of us are dead; they all joined this horrible green screen world – the worst thing is it takes forever. Your scene has been shot years ago so there's all these little dots where this happened and that happens, and you're so bored you can't concentrate on what's going on. And then you get everything wrong; and then this happens there and you have to move your eye up to there – it's as boring as it gets."

However, he does point out, "It is amazing when you see the movie. It's difficult to look at a movie, and so this is great; you'll get carried away by it."

Stardust checks into theaters August 10th; Shrek the Third makes its way onto the big screen May 18th.
