Trick 'r Treat writer and director Michael Dougherty is set to helm another holiday-themed horror tale. Deadline reports that Legendary Pictures has set him to write and direct Krampus.
Co-written by Todd Casey and Zach Shields, Krampus follows the ancient pagan legend of a villainous demon that seeks to punish naughty children at Christmastime.
Dougherty is also well-known for scripting blockbuster superhero fare. He provided the screenplays for Bryan Singer's X2 as well as Singer's Superman Returns.
Krampus marks the second Krampus-inspired horror film on the way to the big screen. It was announced last month that Kevin Smith has his own take on the legend in the works with a horror comedy called Anti-Claus.
