Alcon Entertainment and Alloy Entertainment along with Kira Davis' 8:38 Productions have acquired the screen rights to "The Here and Now," from the New York Times best-selling author Ann Brashares, it was announced by Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove.

Davis (8:38 Productions) will produce with Kosove and Johnson. Les Morgenstein, president of Alloy Entertainment, and Elysa Dutton, vice president of Alloy Features, will also produce.

The Here and Now marks a reunion for Alloy, Alcon and Davis as the three companies collaborated on their two motion pictures based on Brashares' bestselling "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" novels. Starring Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrara and Amber Tamblyn, the first film was released in 2005 and the sequel followed in 2008, both via Alcon's output deal with Warner Bros.

"I'm excited to be working with Alloy and Alcon again as they take my latest novel and the main character of Prenna James to the big screen," said Ann Brashares. "We had an incredibly productive collaboration on 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' and I'm looking forward to building on that great foundation we established for 'The Here And Now.'"

"The Here and Now," released April 8, 2014 by Delacorte Press, is an epic romantic thriller about a girl from the future who might be able to save the world…if she lets go of the one thing she's found to hold on to.

"The unforgettable characters in Ann's novel helped us realize the potential for this project to thrill and captivate audiences," said Morgenstein. "To be working again with Alcon is also very exciting for all of us at Alloy."

Adds Davis, "I have always loved Anne's writing. She writes with such sensitivity and honesty. I am very excited to be working with her and Alloy again."
