Kevin Spacey is set to play former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in an upcoming biopic titled Captain of the Gate, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. A search is currently underway for a director, but a screenplay, written by Ben Kaplan, is ready to go.
Churchill served two non-consecutive terms as Prime Minister, a first term that took Britain through World War II. The film is said to primarily focus on his rise to power through the war years.
Spacey just starred in the second season of the hit Netflix series "House of Cards" and can soon be seen reprising his Horrible Bosses role for the November 26 sequel.
Sierra/Affinity is producing Captain of the Gate and financing with StudioCanal in talks to also produce alongside Lila 9th Productions' Cameron Lamb and Zero Gravity's Damon Lane.
