Episode VII Movie News Summary

Empire Online spoke to Saoirse Ronan about her audition for "Episode VII":

"Yeah, I did [audition for Star Wars Episode VII]… I don't know whether I should have said that now! I mean, everyone did. Everyone has auditioned for it. So many people I know have gone in for the part I've gone in for, and guys who've gone in for a particular part, so I'd imagine J.J. is probably just scanning the earth to find the people that ne needs."

"But nobody has a clue what it's about, and nobody's read the script. So I've gone in and read for it, but I have to say, I think it's the only time I've ever thought, ‘You know what? Even if I don't get it, I had so much fun auditioning, pretending to take out a lightsaber – out of a bag, kind of inspect it and not know what it is. That was… that was great. A lightsaber! Star Wars!"

You can hear the audio for yourself at the link.

The Huffington Post also confirmed that Michael B. Jordan also auditioned for a role:

Finally, there's "Star Wars: Episode 7," to be directed by J.J. Abrams. Jordan, who met George Lucas through "Red Tails," says he auditioned for an unspecified part but didn't wield a lightsaber.

"I mean, everybody's going in on this project. They're trying to figure out what they want," he said. "That's another incredible franchise. It's pretty crazy! ... We'll see how it happens. I don't know how I can do everything."

The Mirror also recapped an episode of the "Graham Norton Show" where Harrison Ford addressed "Episode VII." Coincidentally, Benedict Cumberbatch was also on the show:

Star Wars royalty Harrison Ford says he has not decided yet whether he will star in the new addition to the sci-fi franchise.

"I've not quite made the choice," he says on Friday's Graham Norton Show.

Both Harrison and Benedict Cumberbatch, who also appears on the talk show, have been mentioned in connection with the film, but refuse to confirm anything.

The Sherlock star, who has previously said that JJ Abrams 'knows about' his interest in Star Wars Episode VII, admitted he has dreamed about being Han Solo.

Speaking about the first time he met Ford, he says how embarrassed he was: "When I met you in LA at a party we talked and I made a complete idiot of myself.

"You were very nice but I said, ‘I am a really, really big fan, I used to fantasise about you…'

"What I meant to say was I used to fantasise about being Hans Solo and Indy. You took it very well and said, ‘It takes all sorts!'"

Meanwhile, Latino Review reported that Chloë Grace Moretz denied going in for an audition:

"No, no rumors I don't know how they get started. But it would be great to be a part of it. I don't think Disney doesn't know what's really going to happen. I don't even think they cast the principle roles yet."

Comic Book Therapy reports that James McAvoy would like a chance at auditioning:

"I have not auditioned for Star Wars. Something is rotten in the state of equity, I'm telling you. No. Although I have just been working with one of the writers of the new series, Simon Kinberg. I slipped him a couple of coffees, felt his bum a wee bit, you know what I mean? "Any chance big man?" So yeah, I've put in the work."

As for what we can expect in the way of official announcements, Jedi News UK reports that news could be coming soon:

23rd October looking like the date we may see the first official major Episode Seven cast news drop.

One problem may be Apple announcing today a product launch on 22nd and they are a PR drain. They want to avoid the last week of the month to give Thor chance to get the press as it starts international on 30th with US opening 8th Nov.

Announcements have been held back at Harrison's request so he can do his world press junket without having "to endure" SW Q

Jedi News UK adds some trailer rumors:

A Non live action teaser trailer will be aired on 4th April 2014, the release date of Marvel Studios Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The teaser will be similar to the recent Star Wars Rebels trailer in style and will be the first official reveal of Episode VII's release date of 11th November 2015 (11/11/15).

While we wait on official info, Uncle George's son Jett Lucas was giving a little bit of information himself. We summarized the report from "Flicks and the City" which you can see below:

"We knew probably a year prior (to the purchase) he had started writing and king of researching, starting his whole little process," Lucas said about his father. "About half way through that process was when the idea of selling to Disney came up...It's nice because he's happiest when he's writing and doing something with his time."

He also mentioned Lucas was very torn on working on the film and letting it go, comparing him to a parent sending their kid off to college. "I knew that he was very torn on the matter, he was like a kid who had turned 18 and was ready to leave the house. Every parent has wanted to let their children go, but they want to hold on to you."

When asked what he thinks will happen in the new trilogy, Lucas boasted "I already know what happens. I'm happy with what's going to happen."

Attractions

MiceChat reports that Disneyland's Tomorrowland may be getting an extensive Star Wars makeover:

The aesthetic of most of the land will change to take on the appearance of the Star Wars universe, particularly in the back eastern half of the land.

Disneyland fans will cheer when they learn that the Astro Orbiter will be torn out and removed from its current location at the front of the land, which only served to make that area of the park feel more congested and claustrophobic instead of kinetic and full of energy. The re-Imagineered Rocket Jets spinner is currently planned to land up on top of the Space Mountain Concourse, tying in with a repurposed Starcade upper level next door.

And the old Rocket Jets spinner and PeopleMover platform gets an extreme makeover, as a landing pad in the Star Wars spaceport that forms the loose theme for the new land. And what's a landing pad without a spaceship, right? The craft that will have landed there won't be any old spaceship however, but will be the famous Millennium Falcon that will act as an elaborate walk-through attraction and meet ‘n greet location for your favorite Wookie co-pilot. In the shadow of the landing pad is the old Tomorrowland Terrace dining facility, made over into the rowdy Cantina on Tattooine where we'd told you previously that those tests in the Golden Horseshoe last month were for an interactive dining/entertainment concept using the Star Wars universe.

The back of the land is where the big new headliner attraction sits, in the place of the existing Innoventions and Autopia. After abandoning previous attempts to utilize the existing PeopleMover track and loading area, the Innoventions building gets gutted and in its place is the pre-show and boarding area for the new Speeder Bike thrill ride. The majority of the track heads outdoors and to the north, demolishing the Autopia freeways and taking over most of that area for the new ride. The outdoor Speeder Bike course is set on the forest moon of Endor where the Ewoks live, and an Ewok village and walk-through attraction will house dining and shops as the Speeder Bike ride zooms nearby. Imagineering has had dueling proposals for this area; one that retains the 1959 looping course of the Monorail and disguises it amongst the forest, and one that cuts out much of that track and shortens the Monorail route to open up more of the Ewok forest visuals. It should be noted here that Tokyo Disneyland's Tomorrowland has an aging aesthetic with a sprawling and underutilized Autopia attraction taking up space.
