Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty, upcoming RoboCop) is in talks to play Carla, the mother of Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson), in Universal Pictures and Focus Features' Fifty Shades of Grey, reports Deadline.
Co-starring Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey, the big screen adaptation of the E L James bestseller is scheduled to start filming in early November at North Shore Studios in Vancouver under the direction of Sam Taylor-Johnson. The film will hit theaters on August 1, 2014.
Kelly Marcel wrote the script for Fifty Shades of Grey, which is being produced by Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and James.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" (first published in 2011) follows the relationship of 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele. Subsequent novels in the series, "Fifty Shades Darker" (2011) and "Fifty Shades Freed" (2012) explore the couple’s deepening relationship.
