A story hit yesterday that didn't seem significant at first until we probed a bit deeper with the help of some colleagues overseas. Since the release of Scream 4, we've heard both Harvey and Bob Weinstein express their interest in a fifth chapter.
Harvey Weinstein, recently attending the Zurich Film Festival, was quoted by Indiewire as saying this about Scream 5. (Spoiler Ahead!)...

According to the site, Weinstein told the attending press that there will be no overlap between the film franchise and the television series. The site says the series "is supposed to represent a new beginning and also pursue a supernatural direction." That's according to Weinstein's statement.
A supernatural angle thrust onto the Scream universe? How is that going to work? Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin of "Revenge" and "Criminal Minds" are writing the show, so we shall see...
