Magic Stone Productions

Magic Stone Productions and Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment have announced they will produce Bob Odenkirk's feature, Girlfriend's Day. Odenkirk ("Breaking Bad,""Mr. Show," Nebraska) penned the script and will star in the film. Michael Paul Stephenson (Best Worst Movie, The American Scream) will direct. Girlfriend's Day will serve as Stephenson's narrative directorial debut.
"'Girlfriend's Day' is an offbeat comedy, but the characters are full of heart, searching for love and connection," said Bob Odenkirk. "Michael's documentaries feature the same kind of likable offbeat characters, and I can't wait to make this film."
"After reading 'Girlfriend's Day,' it felt like a discovery," said director Michael Paul Stephenson. "Long before 'Girlfriend's Day' even came into the picture, I had Bob's name down on a list of actors I'd hope to work with one day. I've been a fan of Bob's for a long time, and feel that his dramatic sensibilities as an actor have been largely untapped. 'Girlfriend's Day' is rooted in themes that I believe in, and I'm honored to collaborate with Bob in telling a story that's close to his heart."
In a city where greeting card writers are celebrated like stars, romance writer Ray (Odenkirk) used to be the king. In trying to recapture the feelings that once made him the greatest, he gets entangled in a web of murder and deceit as writers vie to create the perfect card for a new holiday: Girlfriend's Day.
Magic Stone, helmed by husband and wife team Michael and Lindsay Stephenson, will produce alongside producing partners Marc Provissiero and Bob Odenkirk.
The producers are sitting with financiers with an eye on a fall start date. Filming is set to take place in Los Angeles.
